Shredder Installed

Here are several images of my new piece as installed in the sculpture “Base Space” gallery. Al of them were taken with my new camera, a Nikon D-200 digital SLR. The first image looks grainy and much warmer because I was experimenting with shooting at 1600 ISO. I got many more fantastic shots and a lot of video, so stay tuned for that. You have to see this thing in action to really appreciate it.

  1. LOVE,LOVE,LOVE the shredder!!!!! Some gorgeous shots.

  2. day, these shots are gorgeous! Yeah homes, post up some vids soon.
You gotta a title for this yet.
    “Rapunzel”?!

  3. Toro,

What a brilliant piece. The ultra high ceiling really makes it pop. A couple of other impressions:

    1) the texture of the paper is just gorgeous. Love that close-up photo.

    2) I would love to read more about the motion sensor incorporated into the piece. The technical facts of how you did it, but more importantly the impact it has on the experience, how it impacts the viewer’s experience to control the shred, but not control it, etc.
    3) The shred also produces its own unique art each time in the interplay between light and shadow as the canopy falls. I’m glad you didn’t choose a disco ball!
    4) Tell that scruffy looking nerf-herder to stop laying around in your artwork…oh, oops, that’s you!

    Peace, love and pocket bullets.
