No little friends came to the opening and this is a good sign. Art that is really great art is seldom appreciated in its day. (Just ask Van Gogh and some other guys, too.) And really great art and writing is very, very seldom "popular" or a "best seller". You haven't really said anything (there are some fine exceptions to this!) if you make the best seller list as a writer--more true with non-fiction I will concede, and this can be true of visual art, too. So, suffer this marginalization with dignity and perseverence--drink ALL the Juicy Juice yourself and scarf-up those cookies!! You are a lovely artist-in-the-making and at least you weren't accused of TRACING your art. You'll have to ask your Papa about that--I wisely made him suffer for his art, too. AND this is why he's at the AIC today. All my love---and I will buy two of your paintings the next time I come to Chicago to see you, okay?
